(Sunday update at post 20. Couldn't stay away.... ) I've been watching Craigslist everyday hoping to find a used flatlap. This morning I logged on and noticed a rock hounding garage sale a few minutes away from me. Grabbed Brooke and we headed over. The guy didn't have any equipment that I could use, he did have a monster 36" flat lap though that needed repair.... HUGE! What he did have though was lots and lots of buckets and bins of rocks! Guessing 40 5 gallon buckets and 15 large bins of slabs. Plus a table full of large expensive pieces and boulders everywhere! Brooke and I picked out 3 buckets and she also got a 1/2 fist size polished piece of blue'ish polka dot agate that she wanted for her collection. Some of the pieces look like they've hit the wheels or a week or two in rough grind, those should work up easily in the tumblers. All in all we spent $35.00 and got around 100 lbs of awesome rock! .35 a lb, no shipping and less than a gallon of gas was a total SCORE IMO!!! These pictures are of the top of the bin when we finished rinsing... (maybe I need a 4th tumbler now in addition to the flat lap ) Whole bin: One side: Close up: Obsidian that I fished out (bunch more still in bin): Nice material, Picture and guessing Rattlesnake for the other (I might be way off on that one) : Any idea on ID'ing this... thinking Gary Green but the green is turquoise blue? ID on this one would be great too! It's an agate but the inside looks like fools gold. Any ideas? Sure do love Saturdays, especially when the sun is shining and a nearby rock hound is trying to clean out his garage! ;D Thanks for looking! ~Krystee

Out of curiosity, was the garage sale in Bothell, WA? I went to a garage sale there and the guy was advertising lots of rocks and stuff. I ended up with a milk crate of a mix of jade and grossular garnet.

That is a great score. Good for you. I'll bet you'll have fun looking through all those great rocks and the price was certainly right.

Fantastic deal. I am sure that obsidian will shine amazingly, after you'll finish tumbling it.

Krystee, you hit the jackpot!! Those really are some beautiful rocks. Not likely but I keep looking for something like that in Ohio. Can't wait to see what you do with them as time passes.

Sparkly metallic one is marcasite in agate and the one is not rattlesnake jasper but rather some kind of wood, probably palm of some sort. Got to day you made a fine score there as that fellow seems to have collected and bought stuff from allover the world.....Mel
