Howdy folks, I was looking through my artifacts looking for something similar to the curved blade Rich posted and I figured I'd post a few pics of my own. Dug out some of my paleo stuff so here are a couple of pics.....Mel
A buddy of mine was farming cotton on his family farm on the bed of ancient Lake Tulare in California's central valley. He invited me to hunt his farm. No native rock there so I could actually drive the fallow fields in my four-by and hunt camps from my car window. I only found a few pieces, His collection was unbelievable. These ancient Amerinds traded all over and paleo point types from all over were present. Lots of bone there too and the bones though not agatized, were highly mineralized and very stony. The brown one is a dart point from another ranch at Pope Valley, CA.
Paleo dart points from all over: Left hand obsidian point is from near Deep Springs Valley. Christmas tree type base is a rare paleo, a Borax Lake from near Clear Lake, CA. Double ended leaf shape is also from a resort at Clear Lake ( hunting there was unbelievable, sometimes forty or fifty good pieces in one day). White one is from Owens Lake, CA. All Very wind worn at this location and many made from a nodular picture jasper almost like Royal Sahara Jasper. Large Obsidian dart point on the right is from a real estate development at Sliver Lake, Oregon. Big jasper Scottsbluff type is from the ranch in NE CA that I used to hunt.
