Haha Toad, he has a Fisher. Nuttin' unAmerican about Garry Fisher. We're going to the Grand Canyon today. Figured John couldn't ride all the way across the US without seeing our Nation's first National Park.

Todd, we didn't make it to SkyWalk. Wish we had but it was just a little too far for us today. Okay, time for some pics... These are the Archaeologists who are our neighbors at the campground that John and I met. Here is John fixing his bike. We did find the parts, but there are a couple of spots he may need to address later on down the road. When we arrived at the Grand Canyon (South Rim, East Entrance), John just had to venture out to the edge and look down. Scooby looked real small compared to the canyon. We went to Desert View Tower and got to climb up. What a beautiful structure. Inside was amazing. Every inch, corner and detail a work of art. Haha, John and I snapped a pic of eachother at the same time. The ceiling was incredible with all different colors of Native American Rock Art. Then we looked around and wondered where Scooby went... So we gathered him up and went back on our way to see the canyon. Believe it or not, it started snowing. So we went to Grand Canyon Village and had lunch at the El Tovar Hotel. And soon it was time to head home. It was beautiful with a huge ceiling, natural wood and animal heads all over. I think John took some pics on the inside.

Julie and Fran, wish you were here. Greg, he pedals in one day about what we drive in an hour. Todd, haha. Ed, it really was painted and beautifully so. Here is a closer view. I took a little video and will upload and put it together and will post it. Kind of neat, I caught a raven riding a draft up from the canyon. At one point when it was snowing we stood at the lip of the canyon and the updraft blew snow up at our faces from below. Our plans are now... go grocery shopping because John is cooking dinner tonight!!!! He's making chinese spare ribs tonight! Whoo-hoo! Then... we have a lunch date with Jamie and Sheri at Beaver Creek to picnic and go artifact hunting! Double Whoo-hoo!!! Here are a few more pics of the watchtower.

I was at the Grand Canyon the last week of August in 1988. It is not a good time to go !! The temps were around 100 to 115 degrees. The humidy was very low but still it was "ruff". Always thirsty! My family was in a 82 Crown Victoria and the air conditioner went out. The cheapest place wanted $ 468.00 to repair it. We just kept going on to Yellowstone. It was only real bad when we left the Tetons headed back to Georgia. There were no clouds or rain until we go home to Georgia. It was "ruff' and I still enjoyed it but never again in the summer

Great pics of the canyon. I really like the fifth from last in that last batch of pics. The clouds make such nice contrast on the colored canyon that it almost looks like a painting or backdrop to an old western movie. Thanks for sharing the pics.

SO we hooked up with John and Jo today. We had an interesting lunch, John caught two crawdads and ate them, raw, right out of the stream, still wiggling and pinching what ever they could get their pinchers on. We got to hear about some of his adventures first hand, he has experienced so many things, Sheri and I were sitting there listening to him with our mouths wide open. Nothing really phased Jo, she was even calm during the crawdad feast. Was a perfect day all the way around, glad I got to meet you John and it was great to see you again Jo, thanks so much for all the goodies......Oh and the awesome butterfly cookies, yum.

Oh, that poor Scooby Doo, if he is still in one piece when John gets home I'll be surprised. That stuffed animal has seen it all, I'm just sayin!

Ahh, I saw he had a short stick. After today I believe he is capable of ripping the head off of a rattlesnake and walking away with it, maybe even taking a bite..........Yup!

That rattlesnake was mostly dead anyway. After he was so delighted at learning to make jerky yesterday, I was sure he was going to throw it in the back of the truck and try to make snake jerky.
Here's the vid from today.

Ah yes, the Rattle Snake!!!
I have already had a run in with a Rattle Snake but that was on the road near to Morongo Valley in California.
Scooby and I were cycling up a hill when we came upon a Rattler. I wanted to be able to say that I had single handedly tackled a Rattler, killed it and got the Rattle to prove it. So having bashed this particular Rattler on the head a few time I picked it up and threw it onto the road so a car could flatten it and make sure it was fully dead before I claimed the Rattle. The first car to hit it crushed the Rattle.
So ........ There we were, Jo and I, heading on home (to Jo's RV) when we came across a Rattle Snake in the track. I think it had already been hit by a car but it still looked in one piece. Jo stopped the car, I jumped out and grabbed a stick. So what it was a short stick, but hey, it was still a stick.
As I was approaching the Rattler to make sure it was either dead, or that it needed a good thwack to finish it off another car came up the track.
It was Jamie and Sheri, on their way home. There I was, just about to claim my Rattle Snake Rattle, and Jamie ran the bloody thing over and squished it's rattle.
Hahaha, Jo and I just laughed our heads off and and headed off home.
I WILL GET A RATTLE, and I will do it myself.
