Howdy folks, Well, I've learned not to cut for too long a period without cooling off my power feed on the Covington 10" saw. If I only cut a couple of hours or less there does not seem to be a problem. Four or five hours straight and it's a problem every time but if I allow the power feed to cool it starts right back up again. Anyway, here are some results from my last couple of intermittent cutting sessions. Thanks for looking.....Mel Chinese crinoidal limestone. When you buy this material look for the black matrix,as the gray matrix is not nearly as hard, solid or nice. This is a good saw dressing stone too. Strange looking little pet wood round. Really like these spider weby patterns. Closer look: Another shrink wood. When the patterns show this honey comb effect the scientific term for this wood is hexagonally fractured petrified wood. Nice solid red shrinkwood: Closer look: And finally just an eh regular looking shrinkwood: Closer:

Mel, nice slabs.
well i know not to ask you this! Though i must. Is you cord Sj code 3-wire 12 gauge. Myself i have burned up 50 ft. cord on airless paint pumps. they were 14-16 gauge wire.
seem like the motor you should be able to run all day.
silly Q. it is contentious run?

*L* Jack you know my level of mechanical skill so well *L*. I know 12 gauge shotgun. Motor on the saw runs fine, it's the little power feed twister that is giving me fits, Extension cord is three wire and about 1/2" OD, same one I use with my electrical weed eater. I have no idea how to determine what gauge it is cept it ain't no way the same diameter as a 12 gauge shotgun shell *L*.....Mel
PS: The booger is contentious, contrary, comfusticating , aggravating, and whatever friggin 'ating you've got.

www.barrancadiamond.com/lap/saw_hp14.html Brain charge a restock fee? Just saying if your cord is over loading, the saw well. Type on cord insulation jacket should have gauge of wire. Just this week i too am having a lot of....retraining in shop, 18 Lortone....new cord. 3 - 12 gauge. 16 Hp, new 1/2 Hp motor Baldor cont. farm duty. 24" High-land. Get the 1 Hp. motor off the 24" Fran-tom saw. it`s a farm duty cont. duty. new. Then the original motor from the 24" High-land, goes in for a new thermal breaker. it`s a 1hp. I do wonder how the saws new i got a large tax return from. Good for a 3% raise in the economy, My part!

Wow Mel I do like that crinodial limestone! The hexagonally fractured wood is some of the best I've seen. Let's see what a cab looks like.

Mel. Awesome cuts! Do be sure to check your extention cord. Use the shortest heaviest Guage cord you can. Guage is a simple measure just like the shotgun. The bigger the number- the smaller the guage the less the load it can carry. A weed eater usually has a low draw motor- but due to the distance from the power outlet you need to use a larger guage (smaller Number) cord. Your saw has a larger draw motor so you want a larger guage (again smaller number) cord, but since you don't need a long cord go with the shortest you can.

One trick that you can try and that will probably work is to use a small fan blowing on the feed motor.
I keep a fan near my 12 inch blowing toward the saw motor and the hood of the saw because down here it gets 90 degrees + quite often.
Once the slab drops I use the fan to clear out an mist once I raise the hood. I am betting the fan will keep your motor from stalling.
