Not sure if i should post these here since they aren't rock related but i thought i would share a couple of my leather creations from this winter. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate rocks into my leather craft so hopefully in the future i will have some shots of creations using both mediums. First shot is the sheath for my bush knife and the second is my cheque book cover. Hope these non rock related craft pics are ok here. Some people sit and watch tv to relax while i tend to make things instead. Sampson

That's beautiful leather work Sampson. Thanks for showing them! There's been plenty of non rock related stuff posted here, and I (and I'm sure many others) enjoy seeing it, so post away! Nate

We do some leather bracelets with stones - create a bezel cup (or use a stock one) and pop rivet it to the leather. Sorry but i don't have any photos available right now.

I'm interested. We used to do leather work in the 1980s. It brings back the memories.

Beautiful work! If you wanted to combine the two, I could see a beautiful stone as the center of your flower or even as an Acorn nut. I think someone had made a cab holder for a necklace out of leather that Julie had sent them and a long time ago, I had seen a large box, covered in leather with stone accents in the leather carvings I really remember that there was a leopard with the eyes flashing from tigers eye and some of the spots were obsidian or another black stone. There were trees and other items on it too with stones but I wasn't in to them as much at that time so I didn't study it as closely as I would have now. Could have been while I was in Israel but I just can't remember. Oh! My Grandma had leather moccasins that were given to her that had stones in them....I was just a kid then and I have no idea where they went to. Forgot all about them until now. Fran

Great I much appreciate the photos
I used to do some Leather work while working in Uganda in the 80's and got some tools from Tandy on a trip to USA,
But we didnt getto turn work out like that
That is some exceptional leather work

Thanks for the nice comments, glad the peeps here like a variety of crafts. Special thanks to Fran for all the extra ideas of ways to blend my leather and lapidary.....now i just need to find some time to work on it. I'm generally outside as much as possible in the summer and get much more time for crafts when i am cooped up in the winter so i'll have to remember to come back to these suggestions when i have time for more creations.
