I did the 80 grit then the 220 then the 500 the the prepolish and now the polish but after 3 days in the vib its nice and smooth but not shiny , where did I screw up , on the polish I only put a little water in it and the polish is like a sludge after 3 days should I change it or let it ride another 2 or 3 days ? :help:

Hi I generaly Dont use 80 Grit (First stage ) in a vibe but use the rotary for stage one and most other people do the same
220 Grit 2 days , 600 g 24 hours , 1000 g 24 hours
Dont be in such a rush we have all been there take your time
If you use 80 in a vibe people say it wears the barrel out quick 2 - it will leave some grains in the rubber to come out later and give you cotamination problems
I have polished rocks off the beach and start at 220 and get a good polish on them
I do a Burnishing / wash after 600 g for 36 to 48 hours this helps a lotand they go into 1000 g with a shine on

Might have found the problem i found a large Steel washer in the barrel that would dull the mix Wouldnt it ? I use different barrels for each grit . should I go back to the 220 stage ? the rock is smooth real smooth just dull !

You didn't say what kind of rock or what type polish. If you are using a commercially available grit kit they usually use a poor quality polish that will work in a rotary if you use enough but won't work well in a vibe. As said, don't use the coarse grit in the vibe.
