Does anyone know where the best place or places are to buy grits and coolants in quantity is? I'm setting up a shop with about 10 saws and 14 tumblers and am looking for the best price possible. Thanks, Tim

For silicon carbide, try Electro Abrasives, Buffalo, N.Y. 716-822-2500. We use hydraulic oil for saw coolant, many are getting tractor fluid from farm implement dealers.

If you an oil distributor in your area look for "white mineral oil" or "tech grade mineral oil". Key things are low viscosity, high flash point, low odor. Avoid any vegetable based oil.

Good luck if you are talking Electro Abrasives). That is the brand name from both Covington and Johnson Brothers. When I contacted them to buy in bulk direct I was told I had to buy from either of their SO CAL distributors, Covington or JB. Please let me know if you are successful buying from them direct,

I too am having trouble with Electro. Contacted customer service twice with the promise of a quick email quote with no luck. Contacted them again today and talked with the Vice President of the company who apologized over and over and said he would personally send the quote today and when he asked me what kind of quantity we were talking and I said 100 pounds of 6 different grits his voice seemed to trail off. As for the quote, you guessed it, nowhere to be found! Guess you have to buy by the train load to get these guys to act!
