I went to Dillon, MT last week. This was a wall made by a local man, Steve Logan, who is now deceased but lives on in this work of rock art in front of Gracie's Second Hand Store. I can't get Photobucket to cooperate so I can post pictures on here but you can see them here (hopefully): s119.photobucket.com/albums/o129/sweetinmontana/Rocks%20and%20Minerals/Dillon%20Montana%20rock%20wall/the starting post of the wall. It is made with rose quartz topped off with various other rocks. The wall continues for a full city block. It has two end "towers" and an archway in the middle. The top of the wall is covered in Rose Quartz with petrified wood in the center that hold up that section of the decorative chain. There are a lot of cool designs that are scattered throughout the wall. There are so many different types of rocks in it. I was drooling and walking along it stunned by the beauty. I didn't get a picture of the whole wall unfortunately.

Diane, what a find! I probably would have stood there for a long time studying every angle of that wall. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for taking the time to upload all those pics. That is really stunning. How long did it take him to build this?

I have no idea how long it took to build it. Unfortunately the man who did is no longer alive. I did ask the store owner who is somehow related to Steve but she had no idea. Nope, no ideas Sheri. Don, I don't think they guard it against drooling hammer wielding rockhounds but I think they'd hear the hammer beating on it and come running since the store is right next door and there are several bars nearby. I'll admit I did think about it but then I thought about how terrible it would be to deface such a work of art. I did drool a little but I think that is allowed. The big chain is just for decoration. It is strung along the top of the wall sections between the pillars and the archway.

Diane, if you ever travel east into South Dakota, there's a town called Lemon. It's right on the North and South Dakota line. The town park is built entirely out of local pet wood. Even the gift shop. Not much else in Lemon, but the park is worth seeing. If you travel some of the gravel farm roads, there's plenty of pet wood laying in the ditches, and in rock piles in farm fields. Don
