I found some awesome deals on rocks a couple of weekends ago from a garage/rock sale. The guy cleaned out more inventory and posted a 2nd sale for today, so Brooke and I headed over at 9am to see what new stuff he had out. Found some nice slabs and a gorgeous 7.7 lb piece of blue ice polka dot agate. It's so pretty, can't wait to slice it some day! I think this might be tiger iron, but it sure is the reddest I've ever seen Amethyst maybe, lot of purple Plumey stuff Then we left there and went to a gem and mineral show that was hosted by Seattle Mineral Council. First mineral show I've been too. Quite impressive and had a ton of vendors. I bought a nice piece of Amazonite from Crystal Peak, CO Brooke got a cool fossil. I forget what the name is but it is 400 million years old She also picked out this piece of Natrolite that was collected in Mason County, WA. (little needle like crystals) And lastly, the weirdest thing I've seen. One of the dealers gave it to Brooke as a gift. She said that he called it desert rose. Wish we could do stuff like this every weekend, sure was fun! ~Krystee

Great stuff.
Not amethyst. Maybe opalite, chalcedony, something else...?

You did great and even though that is not amethyst, it is one beautiful purple stone. Really happy you and Brooke had this day.

You're scoring big-time Krystee. Congratulations. Aren't those desert roses cool items (barite and gypsum)? That first agate photo is pretty stunning as well.

Toad, Now I'm dying to know what it is!!! Tanya, Thanks, I am having the time of my life now that my daughter Brooke has gotten into rocks with me. She is so cute, inquisitive and such a people magnet, always a day to treasure with her! Paul, Yeah that Desert Rose is some pretty wild stuff. When Brooke walked up with it the first thing I thought was, "Who's giving my kid pastries?" Randy, Cool! Thanks for the ID, man when that stuff is wet it is RED! I'm holding off working on my best slabs (like the ones you gave me ) for a couple of weeks when I order my new Ameritool from John (jsgemslapidary) ~Krystee

I'm pretty sure the purple is Amethyst Sage without the dendrites. If you noticed the boulders when you enter the gate under the tree, he has tons of the stuff. Most of the Amethyst Sage I have also has the orange stuff throughout. I can't believe you left the original owyhee jasper. That stuff is hard to come by, especially in the rough and for only 5 bucks. That's a steal. I was there today about 11 and wow did I get some great stuff. He makes awesome deals. Especially since I brought my husky.

Thanks Nate and Bob, so I wasn't too far off? Nate, never saw the original owyhee... hmmm... could you post a picture of what you got? I think I got some of that two weeks ago but the only thing I have to compare it to is a guitar pic that I got from Bushmanbilly. Boulders by the driveway.... NO KIDDING!!! Wasn't that cool? He told me this morning that whatever he doesn't unload during these sales he's taking to the POW Madris Show. I was the 2nd person there this morning and he was still setting a few things up, he did give me a little tour of his shop though, too bad he wasn't selling some of that stuff... Ha! Funny about the husky, too cool. Two were out when we pulled up, one generously helped me sort through a bucket, the other played with Brooke, beautiful dogs! ~Krystee

This is the owyhee jasper I got, I don't know if I can put all the photo's up but I also got, Noreena Jasper, Biggs, Bruneau, Willow Creek, Condor agate, Montana agate, Mexican Flame agate, Angel Wing, Wild Horse jasper, Red Lightning and some other odd ones that I'm not sure of the names. I think his Rock sale is the best rockhounding spot around. Attachments:

I "think" I did see that piece on the front corner of the table. If it's the piece I'm thinking of it was right in front of the Polka-Dot I bought. SWEET, glad you got it, I didn't know it was rare!!!
I did get biggs and bruneau slabs and maybe some of the others you listed a coupld of weeks ago. I am horrible at ID's but looked around for good scenery for cabs. I agree about the rockhounding spot! His prices are unbelievable. One of the plume slabs I got had $12.00 written on it and he put it in a bin labeled $3.00 per pound. It weighed 4 oz and cost me 75 cents!!!
