Interesting little saw. I like the lift out pan. Did you try to google the company name ? There's always a slim chance that they're still in business. Don

Cool saw Ed! I think Woody rebuilt the top of one he's got, and I Think it's very similar to that.

hello, i'm now the new owner of a lewaco 8" rock saw! motor runs strong everything on the saw it's self is great shape for a saw of it's age. the problem is changing the blade! the old blade was warp and bent and looking back on it now i should have known something was wrong as i had to bend old blade more to get it off! as all of this is really new to me and i have been making opal pendants by droping opal or hitting a hunk and making pieces then doing the tumbling thing and having people buying finish product! i was so happy to finally have a saw to do things the right way. i didn't think about bending off the old blade until the NEW blade came and i tried to put it on!!! the problem is the spindle stick out to far for new blade to be angled on like a tablesaw by 3/4" ! there is on the outside of the saw the pully the motor turns than the housing of the saw, then the bearing then on the inside the spindle that the pully is on, then another spindle that secured to pully spindle with an allen wrench set screw. it is this second spindle thats at least 5/8 to 3/4" to long to allow the blade to angle on! there is a set screw at the bearings that is snapped off flushed. i got the saw from a guy on ebay and should be able to get my money back. but i really like the saw it's old like me and i know if i could get the b---king(blanking) blade on i would be happy and content! PLEASE is there anyone who owns a lewaco and knows what i should to! i thank you for your time!! heartofstone

Are you removing the arbor from the underside of the table? Maybe you could link (not upload) some pictures of the problem.

Last time I seen one of those the arbor would unbolt from the table. So unbolt the arbor, put the blade on then put the arbor back on. May want to loosen the blade while the arbor is still mounted to the saw. And yes pics would help to make sure you are steered in the right direction. It's a cast tabletop so more thought was put into that saw than just making it so you could never get the blade off. And yes that make did have a vise setup on some models it was similar to a HP tabletop setup. Lewaco made saws much larger as well I think I have literature around here somewhere of a 20" saw but I have no idea where it's at.

Edmohs........since you have a Lewaco now would you be so kind as to looking into how to replace the blade on it and maybe posting a pic of the underside of the table with the arbor. See if you can't remove the blade if you have time. If you can't get to it that's fine this just seems to be a subject i've ran into before with this make.

Just curious. Its always interesting to see how things got designed. Me I've never really mastered the phone photo scenario. We all have our talents and deficiencies. Tom
