Hi Everyone, I sure have not had much time to play with my rocks but I did cut a few slabs a while back as well as a couple this weekend I still need to clean up. Here is one from a box that was collected by our friends on their trip to burro creek. It was a plain looking stone with a white or off white crust on the outside. I have no idea what it is but it sure looks cool! It is very hard and tried to burn out my blade and the gray parts are semi transparent. I thought it was a pastel burro creek agate but it really has a strange pattern to it! Thanks for looking! Fran

That is an interestingly strange rock, Fran I have some material that is similar it has brownish orbs in the white not sure where it came from but was wondering: do you know what the white mineral is? or even the gray stuff? thanks for posting and info Ed

I think I am going to cut some preforms from this one and try a few in the tumbler and see how well they come out. The center gray part looks like a semi transparent agate and I bet the rest is really a flint. The areas that look like cracks are clear agate and solid. Super hard rock! Fran

That should make some really pretty cabs. Can't wait to see them.

that looks like a lot of the pastelite found fairly far up Burro Creek, but below the copper mine, a rather nice piece of it at that.

Thank you rallyrocks! I could not figure out what it could be and I had wondered if that was pastelite. I really like it but boy, is it hard! Fran

Interesting looking piece, Fran. Curious to know what you're planning on doing with it.

With this slab, I am just going to cut some preforms. I have another slab, the last slab that was cut with my old blade and it is a slightly crooked slab. I guess the blade slipped a little. Now I have another blade on there but I am going to hold off cutting the pastilite for a while. Don't want to ruin another blade! Fran
