HI All, It was recommended to me that I can use windshield washer fluid as a coolant with my 6" Rock Rascal model J trim saw. If I choose to use this instead of just water do I need to dilute the windshield washer fluid with water? Or do I just use it undiluted as is done with my car? I have the 1 gallon bottles of the blue stuff.
Thanks
Stu

Isn't it mostly water with a bit of anti-freeze?

Be careful. The "anti-freeze" in it could be methanol. Check on the ingredients or check the MSDS.

Never heard that one before- must be the surfactant that aids in cooling? For a smaller saw like the 6" I would just go with water and maybe a little borax. Make sure to drain the water and wipe everything down after you finish cutting- else your gonna get Iron Oxide all over the blade and such (RUST). I also give my saw a quick spray of WD40 and a second wipedown.

Methanot keeps the washer fluid from freezing. I buy it in bulk under the names, methanol, methyl hydrate, and widshield washer anti-freeze. The summer version would just have soap in it.
