Went rock hunting yesterday and came back with some great wood. I am trying to resurrest my Thumbler's Model B. My belt is no longer any good. I used to buy from the Rock Shed but it's been a long time. Any suggestions on who has the best deals on tumbler parts these days? Thanks

Go for best service. When I carried Thumler's I checked the competition and nobody discounted parts. Rockshed did discount drums though.

John, do you not carry Thumbler parts any longer?

For anyone who is running a Thumblers AR-1. I have found it's a good idea to keep a supply of 5 or 6 Parker O-Rings around for drive belts. If you have a bearing or industrial supply house near you just tell them you want to buy some O-Rings and give them a "Parker #2-342" they can cross that number over to other brands. The Buna-N material o-rings last me about 2 weeks and can be purchased for about $1 each. I buy about 5 at a time and keep them around for when I have a belt break and use them until I can get a new one shipped in from where ever. Given the way shipping seems to go up with every belt you buy you could probably opt to just buy the orings instead of belts.

I may have a few belts left but they are several years old and my desert climate isn't kind to them. I'll check when I set up Thursday and see what they look like. They were about $5 ea. back when I was a Thumlers dealer. Most of my customers averaged 3 years use, desert users if lucky two years. Two years is a lot longer than two weeks. I have not checked but imagine McMaster Carr would have them also. You could measure diameter and length and compare prices.

The Rock Shed has belts. Keep an extra belt on hand.

The owner of GyRoc told me to store extra clear belts he uses (same material, different size as Thumler's) in airtight zip lock in the freezer. He also recommends not leaving belts on unit pulleys when not in use.

For what is worth!!
In model airplane we used a lot of rubber bands. Kept them in talc powder and would last for years. Milt
