Some real nice pieces you've got there Greg. Have you made any cabs from the spiderweb or D O yet? I don't think I've seen any cabs of spiderweb on here before, (yet).

Love that opalite! Does it hold together well when cabbed? I've noticed some I've collected in California seems awful brittle, comes apart readily and is tough to polish.....Mel

I've worked the Dendritic Opal, beautiful material. Don't know if it's sourced the same as Roller's but it sure looks like it. It is no trouble to polish. My only issue is that I get too impatient on the first 100 wheel and I work it too fast or even break it. Next time I work it, I'm going to start on the 200 wheel. It works fast anyway, so I don't know what my hurry is. Wonderful stuff, so I need to make up some larger cabs. And actually treat it like a common Opal instead of trying to hurry it. I've also tumble polished it, and it came out great, but it was so long ago that I don't remember what I did, over 15 years ago. Sold almost all of it back in the day but I still have a few tumble pieces I came across the other day and it definitely takes a nice polish. This would have been on a Lot O Tumbler, not in a rotary.
It's one of my favorite materials, I like the dendritic patterns. Will try to work some up so you guys can have a look at it, but it will be later in the month.
Good luck with your sales, Roller! I sold a few pieces back on eBay back in the dawn of time, and folks were always very happy. I would just tell people to handle it a bit patiently like any other common Opal, and they should be fine. It's solid stuff, nice patterns, that hint of yellow. Wonderful stuff.

thats nice looking opalite greg and should make you some great cabs, and if its the same as the aussie opalite thats what i like to use for my inlays. I'll agree with peachfront that you only need 220 grit to work with. Bill
