Not too long ago I had written that I got a new Lortone tumbler, well I started it yesterday and was very pleased with the quietness of it. Even though my dad didn't mind the tumbler being in his shop it still took up room and had the constant sound that I even had to drowned out with headphones and music. Now I can set it in the basement next to a sink we have at the bottom of the stairs and the only sound you hear is the sound of the rocks tumbling, which is actually a pleasant sound.

I like my Lortone too. It sit in my cellar and when the house is quiet I can hear the rocks tumbling just ever so slightly. I have a load of tiger eye - golden and blue going presently and just from the sound I can tell if some adjustment needs to be made. If not, I just let it do its stuff so there is a big difference when it is time to recharge or move on.

I am really pleased with the progress. It is only in its eleventh day and so much difference. The load before I had spent 6 weeks on agate and set it aside since I was tire of looking at it and not pleased with what I was seeing - fractures and pits. However, these tigereyes are a whole new story. I figure 3 weeks and these tigereye will be ready to go on. But I will give them the time they need since this is my favorite stone and I want them at their best. To me there is nothing prettier than the sheen of a tigereye.

For Tigers eye, I'd recommend a second pre polish 1000 grit. I'm having trouble with my tigers eye right now. I think the extra 1000 grit would have made all the difference...
