I picked this slab up at the CFMS show a couple weeks ago. And this is how it turned out. It is 4" tall. I picked this one out because I really liked the brown tree-limb like spikes that poked themselves into the black center. When I was going through Jeffry Hill's slabs of this material I dried the slabs for a few minutes so I could be reassured that there were no pits, soft spots or fractures in the material. These defects are common in most petrified wood slabs that you come across. I was quite pleased with the quality of the material. It was well worth the $25 that I paid for it. Bob

Being a fossil nut, this is probably my favorite of your cabs. The pattern and depth of this stone is amazing. Combining this stone and your cabbing abilities makes for an amazing creation. How you get a dome on a 4" cab is beyond me. I have enough trouble with a 2" cab.
I have some East Texas palm root with a white center I'm anxious to work. It's not near as quality as this stone however.

What a gorgeous cab! I agree with Curt, you are a wizzard to be able to dome such large cabs from normally thick slabs.

Whew that's a beauty! Great root replacement in that material. Looks like it's a slice right from the center of the palm onion.....Mel

Fabulous, Bobby. Your work continues to inspire. I would have thought of a dozen different ways to cut that, but you just took it all in. The depth is amazing. Just stunning. Thank you for sharing that.
