Here's a cab I cut and groove wrapped yesterday for a retirement present for a friend. Nothing like cutting it close. I finished it just in time to leave for his party. (I was groove wrapping another banded jasper cab for him friday evening, and the back of the groove on one side chipped out as I was wrapping it.) I received this beautiful piece of carnelian from Woody in my Christmas exchange box a few years ago. I thought it would make a fitting gift to cab and wrap for a special occasion as this. Thank you Woody. I'm going to have to find the piece of rough I cut the slab for this cab from, as I'd love one o these for myself too. John opened it just before we left the party, and the overhead lighting in his kitchen made it shine like crazy. He loved it! back lit Thanks for looking, Nate

It's beautiful and I agree that the copper really compliments it. A very thoughtful gift.

I love the way the wrap does not compete with the cab. Looks really good nate Stu

That is a sweet one! I agree with everyone else that the copper wire goes well with it.
I had a groove wrap chip out on me before also. I cut the groove a little deeper so the wire would be below the girdle and used used clear 330 epoxy to lock it in. Worked ok for me and my daughter loves it!

yeah, I was trying to force the wire into the groove. I should have widened the groove a tiny bit, but I was being lazy. I think it all happened for a reason, because the carnelian really did turn out nice. I almost forgot I had that little slab. Good thing my daughters cleaned my computer desk and put all my rocks in one place lol.
Thanks!
