Don't forget Prineville is next week on Thursday the 23rd? - then yes the following week 29th through Sunday is Madras. I'll be at both shows - opening days for a few hours then off to better things! - 23rd I have a gal and her sister wanting to head to my claim to learn about digging Thundereggs. Last year Prineville lead a field trip to my Thunderegg claim, however no one ever contacted me this year.

Prineville and Madras were our first out of state shows. Both were terrific rock shows and wonderful rock shopping opportunities. We barely made expenses and were asked to participate in Durango show the following year so never went back. Be sure and visit Richardson's while in the area.

It might be Friday only for us. Our home remodeling project is proceeding a bit slower than anticipated, so we may be driving over in the dark to be there in time for Fridays field trip, then heading back home after dinner. Hopefully I can get enough work done venings this week and we can stay over but I guess we'll see. We will be bringing some really cool trade fodder for anyone interested in a rock swap...

Would this be the place formerly known as 'Madras', now known as Chennai? You should all make the effort to get there. the people are amazing, the food absolutely fabulous, and i'm sure you will all have a 'blast'. OMG, I don't believe I'm saying words like that. I've been saying blast, dang, darn. I really need to get home fast

I wish it were Chennai India John, but it's Madras Oregon, a little closer to home.

Just got back from Madras - Just like every year same ole rocks - Seems like most dealers flock to Quartzite and buy the same material and sell it for 20 different prices. There was alot of nice rock (if you could afford it LOL) - On the other hand for cab makers there was many nice slabs I seen. Myself I go for Thundereggs and Oregon Shows are really getting a poor selection of Thundereggs. Maybe I'll have to set up next year and corrupt people on Thundereggs again LOL - One new person selling down there was Johnson Brothers. Had alot of misc stuff like jewelry trays and jewelry type tools.

So far I've found a lot of nice slabs and cabbing material. I had contacted the guy from Johnson Brothers before the show to bring some tumbling grit to the show for me. I'm doing a lot of tumbling for our club show and I needed 50 lbs of two different grits. I got it without shipping costs and with no California sales tax. It really makes a difference on the cost! I'll try to post some photos of the show but the motel wireless signal is real poor so I may have to wait until I get back home. Bob

I wish I could have went! Always wanted to go to a rock show! Too far, too long. I wish I could get grit at that low price! But not nearly as much grit, lol. Having only 1 small tumbler currently, and remembering someone saying 50lbs lasting them 4 years+..... I don't know where I would put it! lmao!
