We have one of intermittent creek running across our property. Just enough water to keep it wet, weed filled, and mucky all year. Last weekend, I dug the muck out to hard pan, Kathy lined it with weed barrier, set a couple of railroad ties. So, yesterday (Friday) we went to the local gravel pit and bought river rock. 8220 pounds of it, all of which I shoveled out of the trailer, and barrow ed to the creek where Kathy placed it to look natural. did not find a single agate or jasper in the lot. We need a gravel pit like Mel has in Texas. Woody Looking down the creek Looking up the creek

Mel, and all. the green comes with a price. as you walk, there is this squishing sound, and before mucking out the creek you could lose your boots in there! If God would only share the water evenly, what a great country we would have, but the green does make finding rock much more challenging. Woody

Woody, just to make sure I read that right - eight thousand, two hundred, twenty pounds of river rock. Not a typo, right ? That's a lot to move and shovel ... dang. Seriously, you have a beautiful yard.

Great work Woody. That sure looks nice with all that fresh cobble lining the channel. Have you taken any measures at the upper end to try and stop fresh muck from coming in when it flows and covering up all the hard work you have done? I'm not sure what it looked like before all your hard work but it sure looks nice now.

Paul: You got the weight right.
Sampson: We did build a barrier, and lined the bottom with weed barrier cloth. The before was sort of like a rice paddy.

Fran: How about four tons and a wee bit. took four hours of shoveling to get this rock back to the creek.
Deeptime.........there is a heart shaped rock in there.

Very cool. Your yard looks so inviting. I did a similar thing once only I collected the rocks myself out of the Delaware River. Carried them one back pack at a time up the hill to the car. I was much younger and dumber then. lol We gotta get and see that yard in person some time.
