Hi all of you wrappers. I just read that great tutorial that Randy made and guess what? I to want to become a rap Star LOL What would I need to get started? I got the list of pliers needed from the tutorial is there anything else needed. Can I get these pliers at my local Home Depot or are they specialty tools? What wire should I order and how much to start with ? Were is the best place to order from?
Thanks Stu

start with copper and brass that way when you scrap a bunch it is not so devastating! the copper and brass are really great to practice with untill your ready for the gold/gold filled and sterling. the pliers and cutters at Home depot and other do-it-yourself places tend to be too big for fine wire working. Get them from Kingsly North or a crafters store like Michaels. You will need: long flat wire wrapping/forming pliers side cutters round/needle nose pliers chain nose pliers that is a good start to getting going on the wrapping for wire 22 gage square and half round in brass and copper working with all round wire is tedious and a bit hard to handle good masking tape to hold your wire while working it www.brandywinejewelrysupply.com/hhttp://www.parawire.com/22gaugeParaWire.shtmlwww.wigjig.com/jewelry-wire.htm

I just got 100 ft of 21 gauge dead soft square Brass wire at www.jewelrysupplycloseouts.com/catalog/CLOSEOUTS-10-1.html for $9.95. That's a price that is hard to beat. They also have round Brass as well but the prices although good aren't quite that good. Good luck and I look forward to seeing something that you make. Tanya

1/4 inch quilters tape works real well to hold it as a third or fourth hand. Sometimes I need 6 hands. LMAO Brandywine is the best for brass and copper. Riogrande is the best for silver and gold filled. DO NOT buy the plier kits. Pick out individual pliers and hold them up to the light to make sure they fit together good. Lots of Chinese junk out there and they don't fit. Ken

You can also use painters tape from a discount store like, dare I say it...WalMart. Just tear off pieces of it to use to hold the wires. It is less expensive than quilters 1/4" tape and leaves virtually no residue on the wire. I agree with FrogAndBear although I'd shy away from the pliers they have at Michaels unless you would be willing to replace them within a year or so. Basically you get what you pay for. You could start with them though until you feel like you want to commit to more expensive tools.
