Donna and I are going to Idaho the 13th -24th of Aug. Want to stop in rawlins, Wy. to see Brian. Then to the opal mines at Spencer. Then to Gooding to see Tony and Chris. May get on up to Lewiston to see Tammy. Woulld love to see Nancy in Nampa. Might even get to Or. and see Roy.
NOW....Tell me where on this route that we can get ROCKS.
Mainly would like to get some picture rock. Also, may go to Clarkia for the star garnets. Have 7-8 weeks to plan this. Thanks for any help, Ken

Lots of Pic Jaspers in the owyhee and Succor creek area on the ID/OR border. Tony surely can get you some good directions, it's been a few years for me so I would just get you lost.

Ken,
You probably could spend a week with Tony & Chris and not see everything they have. Tony has been collecting flatbeds full of old collections over the past few years...I am also sure he can put you on to collecting sites as well...try a PM to them...great folks!!

Thanks all. We are going to stop in Rawlins, Wy. on the way and see Brian and his brother that will be there. After a day with them we are going on to either Tony's or Spencer opal mine. Depends on Tony's schedule and plans. Then we will head back home mainly because the funds are going to run out with gas like it is. Donna only has 7 vacation days left. Going to use 2 weekends. Leaving the 13th and have to be home before the 24th. Ken P.S. No sightseeing trip. Only going for rocks. Neither of us care for the sights except to say 'been there, seen that.'

If you make it to Spencer, you have 2 options on travel from there to Gooding You can get on the interstate and see absolutely nothing for about 4 hours, or you can spend about the same amount of time on US 20 which will take you through the Craters of the Moon, as well as getting to see some awesome mountain ranges- you can take the interstate home, but you really should take the more scenic route for this one leg- just to make the drive more bearable if nothing else...

We will have some extra time, so may take the side trip. Thanks, Ken
