Howdy gang,
Just had a bunch of kids by my place for a flint knapping lesson and a tour of my rocks and everyone asked me about geodes. Unfortunately, I have almost no geodes left to give away. So, I'm looking to buy a medium flat rate carton of small geodes. One to two inch size or thereabouts would be good. I'd prefer Keokuk types from the midwest but any hollow crystal lined types would be fine. They can either be whole or cut or broken because the kids don't care as long as they're hollow and have sparkly insides *L* Don't know if any of you live in the good geode zone but if you do and have some to sell. please PM me with a price. Thanks.....Mel

Thanks Mary Ann. I've got my eye on e-bay too. There is one lot up for auction that closes in a few days. Plus the mines in Keokuk sell some at not too high a price...Mel

If you want some rabbit springs geodes I can send you a box or two for the cost of shipping. They aren't like keokuks but they have chalcedony interiors that are fluorescent under a uv light. Most are partials but I have lots of them.
Tony
PS- I may have some dugways also, if I can remember where I put them.

Hey Mel I don't have any geodes but I have some T-eggs that are hollow. They're yours for the asking.

Tony: Thanks but I too have dug at rabbit Springs and know what those t-eggs are like. The kids really fell in love with the crystal lined examples I got from some folks in Kentucky and Tennessee which to me really look similar to the Keokuks. They went ape over the Tabasco geodes too but I just did some googling on them and man, they are now really expensive because the site is closed.
Curt: Thank you too for your generous offer. I had some hollow t-eggs too and they weren't what the kids wanted. I think I have a line on some of the midwestern type now so I'll see how that works out before I try something else.
Again, thanks to all of you for your help......Mel

Howdy Daniel, Thanks for the offer but I already have red hots to give away and most red hots are nodules, not hollow crystal lined geodes. The kids gotta have those crystals *L*...Mel

Mel the shop location I go to in Austin is moving soon. There may be a deal to be made to sell them cheap instead of moving them across town to another one of thier locations. I`ll be seeing the lapidary boss maybe tomorrow and will ask.

Thanks for all your help and offers guys! I managed to win a flat rate box of Keokuks on E-Bay so I should be covered now. As part of my rockhound/fossil/nature walks, I plan to let the kids pick out a geode and then cut it open for them. We have geodes here on the ranch but they tend to be huge matrix with little geodes so since the kids ask for geodes every time, these will work better for the job.....Mel

Hi, I see that you are looking for Keokuk geodes. I have many, many of them both broken and unbroken in a variety of sizes, lots of golf ball and ping pong ball size as well as many larger ones too(baseball, softball) I and looking for rough rock for a tumbler and would love to exchange a mfr box of geodes for a mfr box of rough for my tumbler. Could be broken or unbroken and can send pictures of broken ones if you would like. Let me know if this is something you might be interested in. Thanks. Jim
