Howdy folks, So many things going on today but I finally got time to grab my last batch out of the UV-10 burnish tub. My typical mixed batch but mostly large stones this time and heavy on the Texas wood from my last couple of trips and on bubblegum agates as I just found another tub I had lost and the kids love the bubblegum agate. I promise, I have some Alibates flint to crunch up for something new soon. Just a few shots and thanks for looking.....Mel The whole shooting match: Texas wood. The dino bone wood piece a do over and is smaller now. Dropped the dang thing and chipped it but I actually think it's a nicer specimen now. The bubblegums and a few Prairie agates on right. Love to tumble these!

Beautiful mixed load. I agree with Paul, I love the grey and white piece, is that the Dino Bone? I just received my first Dino Bone but one pieced is kinda reddish and the other orangey looking. I'm new at the Dino Bone ID's but the texture looks similar. Great load!

Folks. That one piece is what Matt Dillon called Pocket rot wood. I've also heard it called dino bone wood because of it's resemblance to bone. I think Curt said it's similar to or the same as snakewood but I'm really not sure what sort of wood it is. I've another piece I haven't cut yet that's brown and gold. Odd stuff anyway, but I like it too.....Mel

Nice shine, nice shapes too. So how long would it take from start to finish in the UV-10 Karock

Karock: You cannot obtain those shapes in the UV-10. The vibes don't change shape that much and you'd probably grind through your $50 pus barrel before you rounded them that much. Most these ran six weeks or more in my rotary to obtain the shape and were finished in the vibe.....Mel

soska: For quartz family gems like these, I like to use the aluminum oxide polish from the Rockshed. ( approx 3-4 oz per ten pound load for four days followed by a burnish with Dreft soap for one day). It's cheap and does just as good a job as I obtain with high grade cerium oxide or tin oxide.....Mel
