During the Prineville Pow Wow we went up to the Ochocho tube Agate site on the field trip. We had dug there before, so I resumed digging the same hole I started two years back. Next to me, in a hole my 'hounding buddy (Mossyrockhound) started at the same time two years ago one of the field trippers dug a forty pound tube agate that was just solid tubes. In the photograph the tubes do not show well since it had not been cleaned up. The surprising thing was no one had dug here since Garry, and I had been there two years back. Did I mention this was a muddy dig? The site Me in my hole The forty pounder. One happy soiled lady (Kathy) Close up of her shovel after a bit of cleaning Louie on guard

With an open field like that, How do you know where to start digging other than in a hole someone else started...It does look like fun!!!

Wow, that is some treasure. Can't wait to see slabs and I'll take Louie if he needs a good home, he is just too cute.

Awesome!!! I've met that field trip guy that found the 40lb'er in Garry's hole. I bought a bunch of cool rocks/slabs from him a couple months back. Small world.

Gem'nI:
On this site the agate was deposited by water movement, so most of it is on the uphill side of large basalt boulders. The trick is finding the basalt. I use a steel probe to find both the basalt, and the agate. Agate rings when tapped. Woody
