Today I started figuring what my next piece would be. I decided on a large bolo tie. Yes it will be rather large (bigger's better right? ;D). So I got out the boxes of red Med. coral & Riker mount of spiderweb Turquoise (my private stash for my own pieces). I picked out a piece of coral I liked & started trying different stones in the spaces. Most will need to be adjusted in shape. That's why I generally don't do cabs anymore. They are never quite the right size or shape & you have to redo them. Started working the coral with the fordom & reshaping the stones. Then drew out the general size & shape for the sterling backing piece. I will rim it either with rope or half round & stamp. There will be silver "pearls" to help fill in some of the open spaces. I haven't decided wheter the backing will be smooth or a hammered texture.

The next pix may have to wait a while. I looked at the sheet silver I have left. I realised it would take most of what I have left right now to do the backing. I'll need to send in some scrap I guess to counteract the price of silver these days. Before I can afford to order more (need bezel too). Why couldn't I have been born rich instead of good looking? (missed on both counts actually LOL)
