I decided to carve the reverse of the piece I did the other day. So this afternoon I carved this one. Now I have two but still have no idea what I'll do with them LOL. I do that all the time. Just get a design idea in my head & have to do it. I've got more pieces & half done stuff laying arround my studio. Mike

Do like I do most of the time and just throw it up on a shelf somewhere. Then go back next year and discover it and say 'when did I do that?'. Ken

Sometimes I have to sit and hold a piece in my hand for awhile. Then it will tell me what to do. Never fails.

What Ken says - sometimes time apart helps.

Sounds strange, but that coin looks great framed by your twin carvings. So you might either frame a special/antique coin, or a round cab.

Cut a contrasting piece that fits inside?

I won't suggest what to do with them but I do love the stones and the carving you have done.

If the 2 stones switched positions, I see the wings of Pegasus... but that's just me.

Very nice...what is the stone?
Looks like you've got the idea of complimenting a forged or carved/etched/engraved silver circle or a pearl or shell for a striking brooch.
Probaly too heavy for earrings or else you could sell to a person in love of flying Charlie

have them wing a larger center carving that combines both pieces and set everything in silver for a necklace.

I like it as a step toward making a small frame. It doesn't, shouldn't, always be about jewelry.
Too heavy for earrings, as another poster noticed and I, personally, think too heavy for a brooch. Modern women under 70 don't wear brooches very often, partly because the pins are so destructive to good fabric. Heavier brooch = weightier final piece = too important to wear with cheap clothes and yet too destructive to wear with expensive clothes.

Love your carvings. I have a beginner question. Do you carve with a dremel tool or something else? Thanks

Wayne I use a Fordom. Which is also a "rotary" tool. You can use a dremmel just fine. The flex shaft with a speed control pedal is the most convenient. But even a cheap type can be used too. All of it just takes practice & experience with which burrs work best for you in which areas. Give it a try you never know what you can do. Mike
