Well, it's summer time finally and I decided it was time to clear out some space between the house and garage! Woohoo? :/ I pulled out all of the buckets of un-sorted rock I've been accumulating outdoors since who knows when and started dumping, washing and sorting. Some of these buckets were full of water and breeding mosquitoes, ugh! The Washing Station: A mess. Too much rock-washing and tumbler-dumping! Need moar gravels!! Click to enlarge Click to enlarge
Sorted jaspers: red, tan/yellow, green and multi-colored... Click to enlarge
Sorted petrified wood (one more full bucket not pictured), banded river agates (nodules), gravel agates (crushed chips and chunks)... Banded/fancy colored jasper, cut and un-cut thunder eggs...there are some nice brown moss eggs in there from somewhere in Oregon... Click to enlarge
Unsorted rough: I don't recall bringing three full buckets of silver mine quartz sulfide vein ore home, but I sure do have that much! Damn. Click to enlarge
Pile 'o carnelian Click to enlarge
It's still not all sorted out and I believe I have about another 5 buckets worth of rock in my garage and house! I can't decide, is that bad or good?

Trust me it's good. Here in Ohio you can't find pretty rocks like those. Those Carnelians are awesome.

I'll have specific places to stockpile rock instead of a mess of jumbled-together buckets! I'll know where all the goodies are that have been sitting at the bottom of a bucket for years! Well, hopefully. While I was sorting I found quite a few stunners I'd forgotten about. Now, if only I had a saw.
I can't help but think it'd be cool to build a little fountain or water feature in my yard using nothing but local red jasper or exclusively clear agates or whatever. Hehe.

I like the fountain/water feature idea. I think that would look really cool using a single type of stone!
