What a cool dig! I have very pretty smaller specimen that is labeled Crystal Peak, Park Co., CO. Is that in the same general area?

Crystal Peak is a pyramid shaped peak the kinda signifies the general area , but crystal has mostly smoky on it. , this area is about 4 miles north along a creek.
But you probably have a nice one as good is found as far as 40 miles away,

Sence there was unusual interest in the crystaline form of the Microcline/amozonite , I thought you might like a little more info. NOTE the background is course concrete. Here is almost a micrmount that I am sending to Pete . The size is about 1/2 inch sq. Look at the crystal habit of the amozonite against the dark smoky a little bit differant angle for comparison another angle and now a couple that are almost museum different angle - size is about 4.5 inches for the plate finnally a 3/4 inch showing the crystal habit on bottom and how it morphed as it hit other material unlike mass Amozonite the crystals tend to have solid color and not the spots of white common to mass. Realy good specimens are green through out but most are just colored about 1/2 to 3/4 inch inside then the normal microcline color pink to white. We tend to acid wash till the microline turns white - better contrast. These were all from last weekend collecting. Of interest I have 2 pockets named after me in the collecting area. HO HO Dicky if any are interested there is a new ref book ( pocket type ) out of just Colorado rocks really good but does have a few ommisions. COLORADO Rocks & Minerals field guide Dan and Bob Lynch isbn 1-59193-238-6 from Adventure publications Inc.
