Howdy folks,
Just got this info from a buddy of mine back in California. Sounds like a great sale with really a lot of gem quality rock from California locations and lots of Washington pet wood. Largest rock pile is four feet high, three wide and 30 feet long. Sizes range from tumble stuff to hundred pounders. Price is 25 cents per pound.....Mel
Location is:
258 West Gail St. Tulare, Calif.
July 23 and 24, 7:00 AM till noon

He should have been selling 2 years ago, when we were there... but then again, good thing he didn't: shipping the rocks home would had been costed us a fortune Adrian

Wow, nice sale. Too far for me, sadly. And my dad would kill me i'f I tried to drive 4 hours to get more rock. He already doesn't like all the rock I bought this last weekend! Hope someone is able to go! Hey Mel, do you have, or can you get photo's of the sale piles? ~Colt

Colt: Just got the info from a buddy of mine in Porterville. He didn't have any photos, just the written notice that he got through his gem club. Sounds like a good sale though. If I were still in California I'd be there as some of the Tulare area collectors have fantastic hoards of very old material. Another buddy of mine hit one of these a few years ago and found remarkable stuff in the piles including huge boulders of poppy jasper and stone canyon jasper...Mel

Mary Ann: the sale is on the weekend of July 23-24. Nipomo is on the coast and Tulare in the central valley. Not super far apart if you want to take hwy 46 east at Paso Robles and go a bit north in the Valley. Another bet might be to check out Bill Leslie's rockyard at Shafter which would be closer and Bill has really great rock even though he's a bit more expensive.....Mel

Aww, tis the season for rock sales. If I hadn't gotten a ton (literally) from another sale this sounds great. I think the springs on my car are tired enough. Steve

Boy, sure do wish that was near Ohio, but sadly not. Have a great time if any of you go and we'd love to see photos.
