Howdy folks.
Being a fairly new Texan, I'm always tickled by all the interesting sayings you hear coming out of folks' mouths or on signs on bumper stickers etc. Here are a few of my recent favorites....Mel
" I'm from Texas. What country are you from?"
"I weren't born in Texas but I got here as soon as I could". (Applies specifically to my wife and I.)*L*
" Never kick a cow chip on a hot day! ( Think about it. Living on a cattle ranch, I leaned this truism fast.)
"Never take a squat with yer spurs on!" ( obvious)
" It's so dry here, the trees are bribing the dogs!"
And finally, this one from a riding buddy of mine and my favorite:
" That horse kicked that poor sumbitch in the head so hard, he now votes Democrat!"

Sounds like that horse needs to be retrained. Must be an Obama plant.

I think Texas will be getting more crowded in the coming years...

Good Ones !! Was listening to the Road Show on PBS Monday night and a gentleman talked about a baseball player whose uniform top he had. He stated "He was slower than cold molasses when running the bases". So Funny !!

Yup Todd, Texas will grow in population greatly. From my experience, the people that come here will try to change it to the same as what they came from. Ironic as hell, dontcha think?
If you are moving here from somewhere else, Welcome! If you want to change how we do things here, go back home.

Sorry ya'll, but I went there in the spring and all I saw was brown. Will say Texas has the best roads of any state I went through. Oklahoma turnpike (that you pay to ride) is the sorryest road I have been on in many years. Now it is browner than it was then. Everything sticks you or bites you or stings you. If, I said IF, you see a tree, it is only about 20 feet tall and brown, too. Saw some green, scraggly looking pines, though. ;D ;D ;D :2cents:

Ken:Boy you're right about the brown. Usually green as Ireland around here this time of year but we ain't had but 2 inches of rain here on the ranch since January. Creek below the house is so dry I go out and rescue turtles every evening and move them to one of the ponds so they'll have some water. Guess it's the worst drought Texas has experienced for like 70 years or more. The stickers, stingers and fangs are to weed out the wussies y'all.
Curt: You are right about that too. Got a lot of neighbors who constantly shoot the wildlife when it's them what moved into the animal's territory. I figure, Hell, if they're s damn scared of critters why the heck don't they move back to the asphalt jungle. Why on Gods green Earth would these folks be so stupid as to move into rural Texas where you live with wildlife on your doorstep every day...Mel

But tom, what would it look like if you didn't water it? I had a guest in the hotel here in Arizona last night who complained that he didn't realize that it would be cooler here at night than in the day. After thinking to myself (what a dumb ass.) I asked him if that wasn't true where ever you are from? He said, "no, not in Houston." So I guess the temp is the same in Houston day and night? I just have a feeling he don't pay attention to anything much. I hope that's no typical for texans. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) ;D ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) (don't throw nothin at me.)

I think in Houston it is so humid you wouldn't notice the drop of a few degrees...
