Looked at info on it. Just wondering if anyone is familiar with it? Close to Three Rivers Texas. It would probably be low with the ongoing drought, could a person rockhound around it,or is it private around it?

Snuffy: When the wife and I were down there hunting wood a few weeks ago, we tried to drive into the lake area from the Tilden end and the road was closed ( at the end of course so we had to drive way back in before we found out it was closed). Not much gravel exposed anywhere along the road as it's pretty vegetated there too. Maybe you could get or rent a boat from the boat dock area and go search the lakeshores by water. We used to hunt arrowheads that way at low water back in California and it worked fine......Mel

I have hounded that area a good bit and didnt see any way into the area. The frio river crosses the road in tilden but it didnt look like you could get to it and go down river into choke canyon. Even if you did, there would probably be some trouble with the locals and ranchers. As mel mentioned, the choke canyon lake near the road is vegetated. I even went into the park just to see if there was exposed shore and didnt see any. There is a fish camp across the road and behind that is the house ranch. You can pay $20 and have 500 acres to walk over. If a person wanted to go they could try this and steer clear of trouble. That's what I did, but it was 8 degrees and the wind howling so I didnt find much, maybe two pieces of palmwood . Lots of junk petrified wood with no color or much pattern.
