Just got back today. I didn't get to spend a lot of time at the Garnet and Epidote site so I only have one example of each. I did get a fair amount of nice Rose Quartz though. I managed to work about a 150 pound boulder out of the outcropping. I had to break it into thirds to get it up the hill. My legs and gonna hurt tomorrow!!! PICTURES WOULDN'T POST SO HERE ARE THE LINKS...GOT IT TO WORK!! Garnet ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/111_4360.jpg) Epidote with small Garnets and I don't know what else ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/111_4361.jpg) Rose Quartz ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/RoseQuartz.jpg) ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/111_4373.jpg) ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/111_4363.jpg) This is what you can cut out of this material...notice the six ray asterisms ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/GEDC0296.jpg) ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/GEDC0298.jpg) Thanks for looking. The easiest way it to make it as close to round as possible, then wet it with water or oil have the sun behind you, move it around till you find the star, mark it and split it, the other side should have a star too.

Very nice haul. I believe the other material in with the epidote and garnet is blue calcite. You might test it with some vinegar and see if it will fizz. We have that combination of materials at a place near here and it looks almost the same as your specimen.
