I cut this out of a piece of rough in a large parcel of turquoise from an estate I purchased yesterday. What really surprised me is that the rough looked very chalky. I really didn't think I was going to get a stone out of it. Boy was I wrong. Here is a picture of the rough to give you an idea why I thought it wasn't gonna be any good ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/CAB%20CONTEST%202011/111_4563.jpg) Now get a look at what I cut out of it ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/CAB%20CONTEST%202011/111_4565.jpg)

Wow, Christopher, that is gorgeous. It's a good thing you tried it even when you thought it might not be good for cabbing. You did a great job on the cab.

At least you were smart enough to cut it. I had a nodule I thought was junk and smashed it. Turned out to be a nice jasper inside... DOH!
Fantastic cab! I would have loved to see the look on your face when you cut it open.

I just evened up the sides and started the doming process. I never took it to the saw, just started grinding away.

Oh my. Never liked the turquoise, but I love that cab. Great shine. The blue just seems to float out of the matrix (which is great on its own)

I love that cab, enough that I just bought 2 lb's of the rough.

Wow Chris that cab looks great. It sort of looks like an ocean with the continents. It makes me want to cab the piece of Kingman Turquoise that I got from Dan aka highplains drifter. I have been saving it until I feel confident of my skill level as it is such a soft stone and is so special.

Christopher, that is one spectacular cab. It looks like the beautiful blue in the Caribbean with the white sand.

That was great luck! It sure looks like some of my tooth paste turq. in the rough stage. T

It's hard to believe the transformation from Rough to Finished! Awesome cab Chris...and I'm not much of a turquoise fan...but with the matrix mixed in; I really like that one.
