I found this really cool specimen last weekend. it appears to be an agate casting of a six sided crystal, perhaps calcite? what do you think?

dicgems;
Yes it is, the carnelian in Oregon and the northwest has calcite casing marks on the agate, forms - vugs, voids, seam agate formation, or gas pockets. The calcite would form first in the openings the silicate in solution would fell in around the calcite quartz points. And the acidic water and the ground around would dissolve the calcite forms. Looking at the out side of the agate Geodes looks like Chicken tracks on the outside.
Your photo looks allot like a quartz column i found in the Sodaville Oregon agate digs. dog tooth calcite point in center that had rotten away.
Lucky fine, get more
