Great photos!! Some of those strikes are very intense. Did you lose power?

Yeah, it was a big, intense storm. Fortunately we didn't loose power despite 3 power transformers getting blasted. The photos were taken with a Canon 7D and were taken in 10 to 20 second exposures. I used my camera's Bulb Mode, and a remote control to take the pictures.

Great Pics Tim! It's funny cuz when i read my facebook about how hard the wind blew, how hard the rain fell, how loud the thunder was, and how bright the lightning was...All I said was..."I never heard a thing!" I slept right through it all. steve

No metal umbrellas in the backyard.
Remove all aerials.
No night putting of any kind.

The sky as cracked! those are awesome shots!
there is a gallery in Sedona the owner specializes in lightening shots of the desert she goes by 'lightening lady' on the internet

Great show, thanks. Here on the wet side of Oregon, lightning storms are rare and we miss them. Wish you could have sent sound along w/pics.
