Abigail and I headed to the rock swap in Stevens Point today. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but you all know how that ends up.
I would have really been excited to see a slab saw there, but no dice.
I bought a few pieces, actually being quite conservative lol.
I got a beautiful little slab of Wausau Moonstone. This was a little pricey, but it was already stabilized, so I sprung for it.
I got a piece of what was called purple moss agate IIRC. Anyone know where this is from? I forgot to ask. I dropped the dang thing when I was getting set to take it's pic... Abigail said it was probably fractured there anyway, right?
I also bought a "handful" of rough emeralds to feed the tumbler. I haven't ran that thing in ages, so maybe this will kick me into getting it going tomorrow.
Abigail bought a rough piece of the Wausau moonstone, much more reasonably than what I paid for the lil slab. This piece is about 2.5" tall
She bought a hunk of copper called a smelting nodule, which is about golf ball sized.
Leroy (whom I bought the moss slab from) gave her 3 apache tears, and the guys I bought the emeralds from gave her a chunk of rock with book mica in it to use for school.
On the way home we stopped at a juried art show in Waupaca, and enjoyed seeing what the artists had to offer. Abigail got to chat with some painters, and I talked with a few jewelry makers. One couple had some beautiful modern silver pieces with cabs set in them. We had a nice talk.
We also got to ride (pedal) on this contraption which was there because one of the creators was selling his metal art there.

That was fun. I was next to a lady from Boston, and Abigail was next to a lady from Nova Scotia. What a diverse group on the ride.
We had a great day, I hope you enjoyed hearing about it.
