Just an "I'm bored with what's on TV" post. I finished two pieces I got from the sale last Saturday. The first is a piece of fire agate I gave my neighbor as a thank you for watching our pets while we were vacationing. He's not a rock guy and laughs as I unload my car from my rock trips, but this time, as I showed him pieces of fire agate, he gave a little involuntary 'oh'. I laughed and said I'd give him the piece. I think he wasn't impressed with the color (which is not the brightest) but with chalcedony shell attached. The second is from a broken Lead Pipe Springs t-egg. (These are from a region that is now part of Fort Irwin. I don't think these have been available for 30 years. Ever since I heard of these rocks, I've been fascinated by them. This material - Fort Irwin has multiple t-egg beds - has been my holy grail for years.) I wanted to see how the blue held up and see how the contrast between the blue and red looked. I like it. So, now that this is done, maybe I'll pop on the local news and see if the Dodgers lost again... Thanks for looking Lowell

Great shine on that t-egg. Even the matrix.

That is the beauty in those, is the contrast of the blue with the bright red . Nice blue in them though too.

Lowell:
Long time since I have seen a Lead Pipe Springs egg. I think this area was closed in the sixties as a 'buffer' zone. Just another site gone to us. I have thought of of these eggs as a rock Holy Grail too, and keep an eye out for them (so far without luck) at estate sales and etc. One of our older (older than me) members has an entire bin full, but will not part with any. I have been told the blue is not fugitive like many other blues. Woody

Geez I wish I had been into rockhounding when I lived with my ex-husband on base at Ft Irwin, would have made life there a whole lot more bearable. It figures I find out about rocks after I leave a place. Oh well.

Nice presentation! Good info! I was never one to watch to t.v. I don't have cable --but I did hear that treasure show might be on tonight. Can't seem to find it on the regular airwaves. o well... Polishing a stone is so much better, Watching the subtle colors come alive under the water. Then you dry it and it can be a let down! Like a bad commercial. Book reading was my previous favorite past time Now that I filled in five minutes of my exciting life I'm going to fill the tray with water and try to remove some errant scratches from previous grinds. Maybe the AZ DiamondBacks won again ! I'll check that later..
