Hi Rock Tumbling Friends, It's been awhile since I have been on this board. About a year and half ago my mom became sick with a brain tumor. She had surgery and went through treatment. Then she died suddenly on my birthday Dec. 23rd of a seizure. She has been gone 8 months now but I miss her so much...It's hard to believe she is really gone even though I walk into her house and it's just like she left it when she went into the hospital. We found out later after further tests that she had Stage 4 Lung Cancer. I am so glad she didn't have to suffer through further treatment and suffering. But I miss picking up the phone and calling her each day or just driving up her driveway. Each day get's a little easier and that is why I haven't been on here in a long while. I am hoping to getting back into my rock hobby again. This will be good for me. It's been so long I can't even remember the names of my rocks....I use to know all the names of my rocks! I know it will take time to get back into the gruve. I just wanted to stop in and stay hi to everyone and get to meet all the new members. I hope to reconnect with the old members too!

Deb, welcome back! I can relate to your missing your mom. I cared for my parents for the past couple of years until they passed away 8 days apart this spring. They lived in the house dad built in 1952. It was tough clearing it out, so many memories. Now things are slowing down a bit the grief sneaks up at unexpected times. I am so glad I was able to be near them and help them. Getting back into rocks has been a great salve for the heart, and participating in this forum is a very bright spot in my days.

Hi Deb, I wasn't into rocks when you last where on the boards so we have never met. I am so sorry to learn of your loss. As they say time does heal all wounds. Most importantly you must keep your mind busy with positive thoughts and activities. Reacquainting yourself with the forum and your rock hobby is a step in the right direction. If you can't remeber the names of some of your rocks just post some pictures and I am sure there are plenty of members who would love to help you ID them. Stu

Awe Thank You so much for the kind words and thoughts! It's so nice to meet you as well. I am looking forward to getting to know the new members. There are so many new members in this group since I was last here. I sure hope all of the old members are still here as well. Are all the older members still here Sandman? I sure hope so, so that I can reconnect with them too! Yes, it's great to have hobbies and something that you have a passion for in life. For me it's collecting rocks and seashells along with flower gardening. I don't know what I would do without it. I know I have a friend here that I promised to send a box of rocks to and I hope I can find her name now as it has been so long...I hope you can help me out as you know who you are so that I may do that this Fall. You sent me a box of beautiful sea shells all perfectly marked with their names and each in their own package. I haven't forgotten as I want to pay it forward to you!!! If you could send me a message with your name and address that would be great!!!

Welcome back, Deb. My condolences on your loss. That's tough and I wish you well. My wife lost her Daddy four years back and it's still pretty hard when his birthday comes around. Her Mom has lung cancer and emphysema now so we're trying to spend a lot of time with her as well. I'm one of the newer members and look forward to seeing your work. The other "elder" members have been really helpful so I look forward to picking up some advice from you! Paul

Awe Deb, it seems you have been through the ringer! I thank God that your mom was taken before the lung cancer added into the rough times. Your memories of the good times will become more and more frequent and replace the memories of her struggles at the end. There is comfort in working with rocks that really soothes the soul and you are back with your friends! Welcome back! Fran
