Took the day off, woke up extra early and headed out in the desert for a little rock hounding. We're like 10 days into an extreme heat spell, and just capped off the hottest August on record. I left home at 4 am and it was 89 degrees. An hour later I was way west of the big shitty city and it was only 77! Man I haven't felt it so cool without air conditioning since May!!! Here's a twilight shot And the sunrise a little bit later Some neat clouds in the other direction Hounded till about 9 this morning and that's about all I could take. Here's a few of my finds cleaned up Now I just have to wait until sunset to go out to the saw and see if I got any good ones.

Only ten days into an extreme heat spell? Wow, sounds wonderful to me.
Nice pics Brian. Hope you get some goodies out of that batch.

Beautiful pictures Brian. I don't know if I'd get up that early even for rockhounding. Glad I don't live in an oven...lol.

Hope you get some good'uns out of those! Dang, we had no heat here this summer. I think... maybe... we might have had 10 to 12 days max over 80 here in western WA... and that is probably an overstatement.

Brian: Great photographs, nice to see sky like that to wake up to. I can for go the heat though...and so much for this global warming crap, we just had a record cold August, no heat spell for us yet. So far we have only had one week of summer here in Washington.
I even had to build a fire one morning whilst knapping in our picnic shelter............in August! Woody
