One elderly lady had some Morgan Hill Poppy Jasper chunks but they exhibited the typical fractures that this material is noted for
Some Indian stuff
Our local Calaveras County business association is selling raffle tickets for a 2.65 oz gold nugget. $50 for a ticket. Total of 400 to be sold. I passed on the opportunity.
A local olive oil business had a booth. There are a lot of olive orchards in the area that had been planted around 1910. It used to be a booming business at the time and slowly died off but the orchards still remain and the trees are still healthy. Olive oil has recently become the fashionable healthy thing to consume so the business is coming back.
I picked up about 20 small slabs for $1.50 each. Some really pretty Lagunas in the pile.
Some really good Dino Bone (pricey, too).
In my last posting of photos I mistakenly called this stuff Butterfly material. I got my bugs mixed up as usual. It is Bumblebee material. I haven't gotten any though because I couldn't find any without pits in the yellow banding. Beautiful stuff though!
Overall it has been a super fun show. I'll probably be going back today to BS with some freinds, wander about (it would take many more hours to carefully look at all the material being offered) and have a beer or two (can't risk becoming dehydrated in the heat you know). The heat and rough walking surfaces have taken a toll on my wife so she is passing on the opportunity to go back even though it is only 5 miles away from our house.
I met up with some acquaintenances that are starting up a jewelry trade shop who have a large building that they want to add jewelry and lapidary classes in so I now will have another opportunity to teach classes when they get the interior remodeled.
