Very nice! Fire agates don't usually cooperate with how you want them to look. Tim

How beautiful!
Did the stone "lead" you to the leaf idea while working on it, or did you have it in mind from the beginning?

A little of both Adrian. I was wanting to carve a leaf and while sorting through some Fire Agates I ran across this stone that roughly had the shape of a grape leaf. I hadn't set out to find a Fire Agate to carve into a leaf but when I seen this stone it was apparent to me that this stone would be the one for the project. I set it aside and after I finished grading the agates I went to work. My carving skill still have a long, long way to go but I have to start somewhere.
Thanks Mary Ann

Wow it seems as though cabbing leaves are the in thing. That is one hell of a grape leaf. I think I an going to go with a fig leaf although I think I will have to enlist the help of Bobby1 as he has experience with making BIG cabs. LOL Stu

when I am carving I find that I cannot spend too much time all at once as you "miss the forest for the trees" - I need to work about 45 min to one hour then break away and do something else and when I go back I can spot things I did not see while doing the carving to either add more detail or fix up a part that did not look quite right.
