I just checked on a load of various stones and have to say that I am very dissapointed in the amethyst. Most of the pieces have the red stuff on it and are 'flaky' for lack of a better word. I left them in the second stage longer then normal hoping to make them look better, but they don't, not really. I think it was just poor quality to begin with. The sodalite I have looks really good though. I am also looking for some help with some sodalite slabs, there is a post in the swap shop area.

I thought that was what I was getting, I bought a mixed batch of stones and the amethest was included as well as several other types. I think next time I will buy just the amethyst, the rock shed looks like they have some nice stuff, maybe I will get some from them

Greetings All,
Hey blueangle, I can't help you with the rock saw but if you are interested in trading 10 lbs of your sodalite let me know.

Just thought I'd let you all know that if your looking for some decent amethyst I know the place. The amethyst that is in the picture "First Batch-Amethyst" on the photos board, I bought on ebay from a seller called 'emeraldcreekusa'. They list it as "deep rich brazilian rough". It is pretty pricey compared to other places ($15.95 for 1/2 pound plus shipping), but it is amethyst that is free from ANY junk on it or through it. It is very clean and the color is phenomenal. It is very deep in color as the pic I posted shows.

I bought some ametrine off Ebay a few weeks ago and it was beautiful -- big, clear chunks with little or no matrix. Can't remember the dealer offhand, I'll try to check. Don't think it was too expensive, or I wouldn't have bought it! Hang in their with your amethyst, mine has invariably come out great from the start. My mom had given me a bunch of rough that she picked up somewhere on a trip, crystals attached to rock in all different shapes and sizes, and I used it to get the barrel full enough in my very first two batches. Beautiful stuff!
