Geodes?

All of the sudden, I want to play with geodes! I found some little whiteish geodes in a RTH exchange box from years ago, filled with crystals, and decided to cab it for a drusy. Fun! So now I'm thinking how much fun it would be to order a few to smack open myself and see what I can cab.
Does anyone have a favorite place to order these from, and what you would recommend for cabbing in particular, preferably with small crystals?
I've tried a few on ebay, but it's really a shot in the dark, and I have no idea what I should be looking for...

Not all geodes are hollow, not all have sparkling crystals , if you buy a box of unopened one`s you will likely be disappointed . i have some that i have opened allready .

Dee: Not all geodes are good cabbing stock. I just sawed open a whole flat rate box full of Keokuks and probably 74% had nice crystal centers but none were really suitable for cabbing druzes. My favorites for that use are Tabasco geodes form Mexico ( site is closed now but you can still find some around on e-bay) Brazilian Ochos which are still very common, and my favorites, Coyamito and Moctazuma Agate from Mexico. These are nodules but often have hollow center with nice quartz and the exterior is banded agate which is very cool. Las Choyas nodules often have an agate exterior with crustal centers but the smaller sizes tend to be solids and the agate is almost always just the same old gray or blue. Hausers and Dugways mostly fall in this same category. I don't really have a favorite place to order from as results as you've mentioned, seem variable....Mel

Thanks Mel and tandl, you're saving me from disappointment, surely! I guess I'll satisfy myself with the ochos I can pick and choose from the local rock shop... I love our forums!

Go for the light ones Dee. At least you can be reasonably sure they're hollow. No promise that they'll have crystals, but at least they won't be solid all the way through.
