i was looking at the vendors section....and checked out the gemshops web site...and was just wondering about the coconut geodes they had listed.
35 lbs...for $35...is this something that would be ok for us having just a workforce...or is there more i need to know about them.
just thought i would ask before considering buying some of them.

I think it really depends on if they are hallo or solids. If hallo i dont thing you have one bit a problem. If they are solid, coconuts can be some of the biggest pains in the but to cut. In all thunder egg like geodes ive cut, coconuts produce some of the hardest agate centers. They can be nice, but also they sometime can all look the same. I send you a couple solids to play with frist if you want. Just let me know.

Yes, In coconuts, vendors will grade out the hallos and charge more. If you looking around $2-4 per pound, they will most likley be all solids with quartz hearts at best. If you looking to pay upwards of $15 per pound, they should all be hallos.
Plus, simple weight of the lightest geode is pretty easy for vendors to do. And the hallos do produce fine crystal insides. SO vendors will take that step and charge accordingly.

So if it's just one geode at 35 lbs, you're probably looking at solid... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Unless its a hugh one. Ive seen 40-60 geodes come out of the Lucky strike mine. And out of Brazil. They were holla indeed. The lucky strike ones didnt have crytals but neat agate with open centers. For anyone looking to buy proven coconuts or mexico geodes. But form these guys, they are the miners of 90% to whats on the market currently. gemcenterusa.com There website looks retail, but they are a wholesale company. you can buy 1, or 1000. And they garantee hallos if thats what you pay for.
