My favorite Jack Skeletor (from Nightmare Before Christmas) impersonator. A crinoid imprint, unedited except cropping and sharpening. Rock was found in the California Desert, near Ocotillo Wells (my favorite hounding location). Lots of fossils there. Strange rock that looks like a brain. Also from Ocotillo Wells, CA. Not scary, actually kind of cute. Not sure where this was from. This one was entered in SDM&G (San Diego MIneral and Gem) Ugly Rock Contest at their annual BBQ and Silent Auction a few years ago. I think it came in second. Missed it this year thanks to Covid. I have more scary ones, will have to dig them up (Get it? LOL).

I named him Freckles. Very low maintenance, didn't need to go out all the time, and never barked!

RickB what is the meaning of bringing this old thread back to life from where it was peacefully sleeping in Photobucket purgatory! You have awakened an ancient curse and the German's are not pleased! ... actually they probably are because they get to make one appearance a year around Halloween... muh-hahahaha She's telling him how much she adores him... and he still just rolls his eyes... this was a fascinating rock - the outside hinted at what was inside but needless to say I was stunned when I cut it.

Tommy those are fabulous! They even each have a "lobotomy" scar on the side of their forheads.

Of all the things you might imagine when slicing open a rock, you probably don't imagine two guys looking at you!

That’s an incredible agate! and... an incredibly lucky cut haha. Because of the shape I could have easily cut across and ruined it but on a whim decided to glue it to a board and slice long ways and the rest is history.

I know this is CA and all and I don't judge but I do think this particular marriage is a man and woman heehee BTW Mr.German is an 3/8" thick end cut and she is a 1/4 slice. I wish they were the same because I've never come up with a way to display them properly.

Dug up a couple more scary dudes. They make me think of mummies. Not zombies, zombies are highly over rated. Both collected while prospecting for gold near the CA/AZ border, south of Senator Wash. Yeah, we got gold there, too.
