Hi, members! Hand-2-Mouth mining is headed up to Davis Creek, Modoc National Forest, CA this week to mine rainbow obsidian. We'll be working our commercial pit, the "Black Hole," from Friday through Sunday. This will be our last trip up until next season, and even though it's short notice, any members who'd like to meet up are welcome to PM us, join us Thursday evening at the Wagon Wheel motel in Alturas, or meet us at the Middle Fork site on Friday morning around 9:30. A slab of our subtler materialFor Google Maps users, Middle Fork is at Latitude 41°43'5.94"N, Longitude 120°18'59.89"W If you can make it and need to confirm, you can give me a call at (559) 250-5057. I'll be in and out of cell range, but I'll call back if I miss you. Hope to see a few of you there! Kris

Kris, I'v been going to Davis Creek to collect the fabulous Rainbow Obsidian for 30 years or so. I haven't been there for a year or so and unfortunately I can't make it this time. Are you planning on going next year? I'd like to meet up with you then. Obsidian is one of my obsessions. I wrote an article for Lapidary Journal on cutting Catseye Obsidian from Davis Creek in the July 2010 issue. Bob
