I can't wait to see them!! Did you figure out how to get the star to show?? The best I have done so far is an "eye".

The schiller is nice in this material too. It is really amazing at the claim because the whole outcropping does this when you walk by at certain angles

Star would be best cut with a very high dome, or as a sphere. Once you find the star in a sphere, there should be a matching star on the opposite side. Just mark and saw the sphere and you have 2 star cabs.

I don't remember Diane. So many rocks so many estate sales. I get them mixed up sometimes. Did I send it to you? If I did, you could send me a photo and I could tell you. If I was asking about it then I forgot... lol ....

Oh yes I remember this now. It is most definitely old stock Burro Creek. From what I have learned this is the type of material they collected out there before they covered the hole with 40 feet of dirt. I had a hard time IDing it because it is more agate like than the Burro Creek you see now a days which is more jasper like. Did you get some? If not let me know I still have some.

I've managed a star, but it wasn't oriented right. didn't see it unless you looked at the stone from an angle. now that my saw is up and running again I might try cutting a few cubes and rounding them out to orient a star

A star can often be found and oriented if you submerge the rough in oil of wintergreen or diffraction oil under a strong light.

I was finding stars in the rough with honey and bright sun light, but even so, cutting the rough right is tricky.

Here us what the stars look like in this material ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/GEDC0296.jpg) ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/GEDC0298.jpg) My back is okay. It is my legs and butt that are soar from humping that stuff back up the mountain. Cutting the star is pretty tricky. I didn't cut those two. All I have manage so far is to cut this eye ![](http://i397.photobucket.com/albums/pp59/christopherlesso/Rose%20Quartz%202011/EYE2.jpg) There is a star there. The only problem the apex is at the bottom of the girdle. So only an eye shows when it is laid in a pendant orientation.
