WARNING[size=6 [/size] BEWARE BAD EBAY SELLER FIREAGATEJUNKIE. I won an auction for a finished Fire Agate Cab. it had beautiful red fire and I won it for only $11.00 I paid $5.95 for expedited shipping. The cab never arrived The seller never responded to my three messages. I opened a case with Ebay and requested that I get the cab rather than a refund. I ended up getting a refund anyway. I think the seller was unhappy with the price. Not good but I can deal with it. However by the seller not replying to my messages and not shipping the product makes me think he was trying to steel my money as well. This is a picturee of the cab.

Dont know today, but dealt with him only once, and it turned out OK. That's now about 4 years ago. By chance, you can see the cab in the posted finished pendant at the Pietersite thread.

Their feedback is perfect, why didn't you leave them negative feedback?
Beautiful cab.

I had a similar experience on Ebay, turned out that the seller had been in a car wreck, hospitalized, and wound up enlisting a friend to catch up on their correspondence. Received item eventually, but felt really bad about the angry email I sent when I didn't receive my item in a "timely" fashion, prior to finding out about the accident.

I have purchased from fireagate junkie before, not though ebay but through his website for some deer creek FA rough a couple years ago. It took several weeks to arrive, and the excuse was that he was busy setting up for the tucson show. Regardless, I wasn't impressed. He hasn't been active for a long while, this is the first time in years that I've noticed he's selling again. He does good fire agate work, but his customer service sucks.
Stu, I think you are 100% correct about him not wanting to part with the cab for $11.00. He should have put a reserve on it if he didn't want to leave the final price on the auction to chance.

I agree Don, To me it was obvious that he didn't want to part with the piece at that price and I can deal with that. However this dirt bag would have been happy to keep ,my money if I didn't fie a case. LOL I am a sucker for a good lookin rock and I have been know to over pay many times and I probably would have over paid for this one as my wife wanted it. As far as a negative feed back that will come. Though with 100% positive I don't think it would make much of a difference. I think posting this thread was more effective and beneficial to you and all my other rock hound friends on the forum. For those of you who claimed to have had a good transaction several years ago I am happy for you. All I know is how he mistreated me. I sent three very friendly emails and no response. I started a case and the refund was in my account the next day so there is someone handling his business. However if any of you Fireagatejunkie fans find out that he is in the hospital let me know and I will send him flowers. As far as buying from him lets just say that you have been warned.

You'd be surprised the effect of one negative feedback. It doesn't turn me off, but I look twice before bidding.
Thanks for the heads-up on this seller.

I would have given him negative feedback, so that other people on e-bay knew that he didn't fulfill his end of agreement when he listed the item without a reserve on it.

The problem is if you leave negatives on eBay, these days, it bounces back on you as well, since some sellers won't sell to folks who have a history of leaving negative feedbacks. There is a very common negative feedback extortion scam hitting honest sellers and the only way to deal with it is to search bidders and cancel if possible the sales/bids from those who have a history of making waves. I'm thinking of no longer accepting bids from potential problem buyers myself. Now we all know our OP is not a problem buyer, but if I knew nothing about him except that he'd dinged another small seller, would I want to do business with that person? When you deal online, I don't know you, so I have to judge from your transactions with others, and there are more problem buyers out there than problem sellers.
Therefore I agree with the Original Poster that it's far more effective to post your story here, where you can tell the whole story, instead of getting caught up in a feedback war at eBay which may have unintended consequences against YOU.
If I see a seller has one negative feedback, it doesn't make any difference to me as a buyer. Because I am mostly a seller and I've been hit by the scams like almost every other small seller, I am not too impressed by one neg if there are a lot of positives. I dunno, maybe that's just me. These days, feedback scores don't mean what you think they mean. Forget the score and READ the feedback. One missed communication, one screw-up, or one nutty buyer making wild claims...that shouldn't mean anything. Look for patterns.
I have left negatives and I have filed complaints but I won't judge the person who doesn't because they're probably making a sound decision not to get caught up in a lot of B.S. to little benefit to anyone. And yeah, I had an experience where the unfortunate non-paying bidder had been hospitalized and it turned out to be cancer; when he was able, he did make it good and I felt horrid for having complained. These feedback wars...seems like they do more harm than good in the end.
In the situation described by the Original Poster, MY policy would be to send the stone or to make it good in a way pleasing to the customer...if the stone had gone missing, I would try to supply a stone as good or better. A full refund would be my last choice since the customer prefers the stone to the refund. I would have at least provided an explanation as to what went wrong -- stone gone missing, stone broken, etc. A little communication could have gone a long way, and the seller was badly in the wrong not to explain, leaving us with no option but to think he didn't play fair...the OP probably has better things to do but he could watch the future auctions from this seller and see if the stone gets relisted at some point at a higher price.
