Lucky boy, that sure looks like a fantastic rough. Sorry though for the next "costumer"!

I suppose the seller accidentally hit the "relist" button by mistake...odd that it would let you make that mistake if the item has a winning bid on it. But most items don't sell and if you're hitting relist on a lot of items at once because it's a new month and you have a lot of free auctions, it might be fairly easy to relist one sold item by mistake? I don't think there's any way for the seller to make it right for the second buyer, except to offer a full refund. That's a mistake I haven't made, but that's how I would handle it if I had.

You're not the bad guy Jason. I always appreciate an honest, professional opinion. I've been wondering the samething myself. I have a smal piece of Bruneau (no eyes, pure specimen) that I've tried using to scratch the piece I bought - they seem to be of the same hardness. It seems to be too hard for wonderstone. Before I slice it up I'll ask an old rockhoud I know, who is expert at Bruneau.
I certainly wouldn't bet my left arm either way (but then I'm partially left handed) - but I'm fine risking the $20 I did. Although, I think my rock budget for the rest of year is now blown.

Yep, I agree with Jason. I've cut a lot of Bruneau and a lot of various wonderstones ( some of which, like hickoryite, which the specimen kind of resembles) can be quite hard. I'd also say definitely not Bruneau and that sort of improper identification costs you money too because most wonderstone is a couple of bucks a pound while Bruneau can go ten times that amount. I also find it interesting that E-Bay dealers seldom screw up an ID where they identify an expensive specimen for sale as something cheaper. It seems it's always something cheaper they ID and post as something more expensive *L*....Mel

Doesn't look like bruneau to me either.

I would be returning that one Steve...that is not in any way shape or form Bruneau Jasper...it is a plain old low dollar chunk of Wonderstone probably out of Utah or Nevada. Sellers like that typically do that kind of listing fraudulently and intentionally to try to get more money for an item that is worth very little and prey on the lack of knowledge many buyers on eBay have. I know well, I try to help sellers and correct their mis-identifications frequently and many never reply or insist they are right about their identification and do not realize they are getting good advice from an expert in the field. People like that undermine confidence for buyers on eBay and it bites my butt LOL
