Stepped off the porch early today, fell and broke my ankle! This sucks! It was the inside bone so no cast, just a boot for 4 - 6 weeks! Hurts like crap! I will still keep the rock shop open, I will just get around really slow! I sure can get a lot of wrapping done! Anybody wanna come by and keep me company? LOL Sheri

Broken bones SUCK BIG TIME. I had a break inmy ankle just like you but foolishly the Dr in the ER said it was just a bad sprain. It was only the next day that I got a call back from the ER saying that I had a break. Ubfortunately the damage was done and by not casting the ankle caused further damage. Keep off your foot and feel better Stu

Woke up this am hoping to feel a little better but my ankle hurt so bad yesterday I didn't realize everything else that bent and hit the ground! I felt all of it as I was groaning and trying to get out of bed! Don't think Church is an option today! Growing older sucks so bad!

Ouch! So sorry to hear this! Good that you're still able to move around. I know first hand (or should I say first foot ;D ) how you feel, as I also broke my ankle while skating, six years ago. Have a good recovery, Sheri!

Sheri:
Not good doing this, but as bad as it sounds it was better that it broke instead of tearing your tendon loose............that puts you in the *&&%^$^ boot most of the year. Still, much sorry you did this. Oh, yea...do not...kick anything! Woody

Thank you all for your encouragement! It is finally cooling into the 70's this week and perfect for rock hunting. Sucks big time! I won't be hunting for at least 4 - 6 weeks. I will know more when I follow up with my reg doctor. Still awful swollen, how long does that usually last?

don't be on your feet too long at any one time and make sure you have at least one hour with your foot elevated for every 2 that you have it down and are using it. That way the swelling won't be so bad and it will heal faster. get a good book to read or movie to watch while elevating that foot so it won't be so boring a chore get better soon!
